Räumliche Verteilung der Naturverjüngung auf grossen Lothar-Sturmflächen | Spatial distribution of natural regeneration on large windthrow areas created by the hurricane Lothar in 1999 (reviewed paper)

Peter Brang

Forschungsanstalt WSL, Zürcherstrasse 111, 8903 Birmensdorf. E-Mail: .

Natural regeneration data sampled on 1293 plots from nine windthrow areas were analysed using Cox's (1971) method of zero-plot-diagrams. Average sapling density was 600 to 6500 saplings ha–1. Sapling counts indicated higher clumping than would occur with a random distribution of 1000 saplings ha–1. From 2001 to 2004, the clumpiness of the natural regeneration increased, and the establishment of additional seedlings was positively correlated with seedling presence in 2001.

Key Words Zero-plot-diagram;, spatial patterns;, natural regeneration;, windthrow areas;, Poisson distribution.
